Yammer Jammers

1 large yam
3 table spoons orange juice
1 cup Grape Nuts Cereal or granola (we used Grape Nuts)
Grated apple and Shredded coconut for toppings

Boil or microwave the yam until fork tender.  We highly recommend leaving this to cool over night .  When cool scoop out into a bowl and smash up.  Leaving the skins on doesnt make for very nice treats, but you can if you want to chop it up really fine for the mixture.  Add 1/4 cup of the cereal plus the 3 tsb. orange juice.  Mix thouroghly.
Spray or butter a cookie sheet.  Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Shape a nickel size amount of the yam mixture into a ball.  Roll in granola or cereal and place on the cookie sheet.  You will find that you are pretty much mixing more cereal into the ball rather than coating it, but thats ok.
If you have larger birds you can make them bigger, quarter size.  But for cooking sake make them all the same size, if possible.
top with grated apple and coconut for a nice finish.
Pop you treats into the over for 10 minutes, or more.  When they are a golden brown and the toppings are dry then they are done.
Make sure to let these cool before you give them to your birds, or your self!  Bet ya cant eat just one!
